Ask the Expert : How to help your Photographer get those amazing detail shots!

There are a few things that a couple can do to make sure they get those WOW detail shots and here are 3 easy tips on how to do that from Jose Villa.

1. Make sure you provide a simple timeline of the day, if not from you then from the wedding planner, don’t send over a book long timeline, you don’t want to confuse the photographer, but just give them a few heads up on how the day will flow. As a photographer I need to make sure I know whats going on next to make sure I am ready with the best camera and lens choice.

2. Allow enough time for the most important parts of the day, every bride and groom is different on their priority of the day captured so make sure to hire the photographer for the right amount of time. The last thing you want to be doing is rushing the photographer to cover everything for you in a small amount of time. I understand most photographers charge on an hourly packet so just make sure to book him or her for a good amount of time.

3. Ask your photographer questions about the lighting you’ll be having at the reception and ceremony location. Make sure they get a chance to see the location if they haven’t shot at your location before. The photographer should already be suggesting lighting and showing interest in seeing the location, but if not take action and ask those questions.. If the photographer isn’t asking any questions then that might just be a red flag and you might want to start looking for someone else.
