We love shabby chic!  So we put together this burlap chic wedding that turns ordinary potato sacks into elegant, fashion-forward accents.  Mix rough fabrics with silk and tulle in soft shades of taupe, beige, and rose.  Your wedding will be beautifully understated, the perfect balance between classic and vintage.

A nautical themed wedding is perfect for waterside ceremonies that crave an elegant twist.  Navy and white geometric patterns are clean and modern.  To lighten the mood, add bold pops of color with crimson and gold nautical flags.  Create table decor with colorful paper boats, crisp white linens, and faux anchors.  And be sure to serve classic seaside fare for dinner: lobster bisque, smoked salmon, or raw oysters.

Chefs Laura and Zach were lucky in love on their 11-11-11 wedding day, photographed by Bill and Kelli of Kelli Nixon Photography.  The autumn wedding in Denver, Colorado, featured lots of DIY details like chalkboard signs, burned wood cutouts, and adorable fairy costumes for the flower girls, reminiscent of the play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream:

“Rustic, yet glamorous, with a touch of my personality everywhere you look,” Laura said.

Not to mention the fact that you want to look and feel your loveliest on your daughter’s wedding day, just as she does. But mother of the bride outfits need be no trickier than any others.

Choosing your mother of the bride outfit is a fashion decision that really counts. The photographs of that perfect big day are going to be around for a long time. Not to mention the fact that you want to look and feel your loveliest on your daughter’s wedding day, just as she does. But mother of the bride outfits need be no trickier than any others.

So here are some pointers that relate to this Spring’s wedding fashion trends 2012 on how to choose your mother of the bride dress – colour.

Pastel shades
The pastels and blancmange shades that crop up most frequently on mothers of the bride aren’t your only option. And they are such a stand-by that they have become a bit clichéd. Was I the only one who thought Kate Middleton’s mum looked safe, elegant, but less than dazzling at the Royal wedding? Unless you have very pale colouring and you usually wear those shades happily, steer towards something a little more vivid. A vibrant shade, worn with confidence can make your skin glow.

Bright colours

The richest emeralds, cobalts, oranges and purples are some of the hottest looks on the high street at the moment and they are made for grown-up women. Those rich colours, in a clean-lined, simple silhouette would make a gorgeous look for a wedding. Just keep your accessories simple, your make-up soft, and let the dress do the talking.

Soft colours

A softer option would be a sherbert shade. Coral, deep lilac, tangerine, topaz and lime can all look fresh and zingy, particularly for a spring wedding. And setting off one base shade with a dash of another can look lovely if done carefully – if your dress is a cool topaz you might be surprised how wonderful it can look with a pale, buttery gold.

Find a large department store with a wide range of gloves and hats, take your dress along and try absolutely everything with it. By all means take along your best friend for advice, but enlist the help of the shop assistant too. They aren’t aware of your fashion habits so they will approach you with fresh eyes, which are invaluable. Have fun!

Billy Idol said it best: It’s a nice day for a white wedding!  An all-white wedding is elegant, chic, and fashion forward.  Fill white vases with white roses, drape a white canopy over your reception space, and add lots of candlelight and glitter.  Serve vanilla-based foods and a main course coated in white cream sauce.

Don’t be afraid of getting lost in all this white.  A white wedding gown with lots of texture and sparkle will still allow you to shine.

A peach-themed wedding exudes summertime luxury.  The color peach radiates sweetness, warmth, and femininity, ideal for a balmy August day.  Cluster peaches in wicker baskets and pile peach roses into crystal vases.  Decorate your venue with soft, petal accents and silk ribbons. Peaches also add an elegant touch to the dinner menu.  Try peach-glazed pork, peach bourbon cake, and peach granita garnished with mint.

“It all started 26 years ago in California with a few dresses handmade for friends and family. Turns out, there was a niche for well designed special occasion dresses, and it caught on in a big way. By the late ’80s Watters was a household name in the bridal industry. Always looking forward, the company continues to evolve and currently offers bridal gowns, bridesmaids, special occasion, flower girl and party dresses under the brand names of Watters, Wtoo, Collection 20, Seahorse and D.I.D.”

“Vatana Watters continues to be at the heart of the company and is passionately involved in setting the design tone. Her inspirations emanate from her heritage, experience on both coasts and the desire to reflect the spirit of the times. Vatana recognizes that design is where it starts, but not where it ends. And that’s why Watters continues to be appreciated for being a cut above for quality and responsiveness.”

This glamorous concept shoot was photographed by Lori Kennedy Photography at Clock Tower Events in Denver, Colorado.  The historic clock is surrounded by views of the city skyline and romantic mountain ranges.  Yes, Denver couples can actually tie the knot in this gorgeous tower!  We love the deep purple touches and elegant mix of velour and feathers.

According to Lori Kennedy, models and newlyweds Laura and Dalton “exuded love and a modern, glam style.”

Enjoy!
