“The couple met at the University of Alabama through the groom’s sister. Rachel attended Jonathan’s fraternity mixer which turned into a night they’d never forget! On a whim, the two joined friends for an overnight trip from the gulf coast to New Orleans, LA during the formal! New Orleans has remained a treasured memory for the couple as the site that started their relationship.”

“Lake George has always been a very special place for Brock and me,” said bride Marina. “Our families vacationed in the area for years. It’s also where we spent our first Valentine’s Day, and where Brock asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. The Sagamore Resort, with its breathtaking views of Lake George and the surrounding mountains, was the ideal location for celebrating our big day. The resort’s old-world style highlighted the ‘classic-elegant’ theme of our wedding.”

This feeling of luxurious elegance permeated the reception and ceremony, all the way down to the guests’ transportation.

“Our guests arrived at the Sagamore on a classic wooden yacht and enjoyed the magnificent views and lake breezes at our outdoor ceremony, followed by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the gorgeous grounds,” the bride said.

“The energy on the dance floor at the reception and the joyfulness of our guests provided the perfect celebratory atmosphere to begin our life together,” the bride said. “Our wedding was truly monumental and turned out just as we had hoped.”

“Rustic, yet glamorous, with a touch of my personality everywhere you look,” Laura said.

“I wanted [the wedding] to have a feeling of romance and whimsical elegance, so I chose a dark purple, green, and brown color palate,” Laura said. “To keep the idea of a whimsical midsummer night in the middle of fall, I thought it would be fun to create different centerpieces for each table. I did not want any ‘arranged’ flowers, so I worked with the florist to just randomly place various buds. I also envisioned other elements to tie everything together such as feathers, birds, lanterns, lots of candles, crystals and any purple or green flowers.”

Although she initially dreamed of an outdoor wedding, Laura decided to bring the outside in by using natural elements like manzanita tree centerpieces in the décor. The bride created many of the sweet details for the wedding, including handmade favors, decorations, and the design of Zach’s wedding band.

“I pride myself on being a crafty and creative girl, so I really wanted to do much of it myself,” she said.  “We also had a very low budget, so doing it all myself resulted in huge cost savings.”

Laura and Zach met at the restaurant where they both worked. Laura describes their relationship as a “whirlwind romance.”

“We completely fell head over heels for each other and would stop at nothing to be together,” she said. “We truly were madly in love!”

Their engagement story is equally sweet. At the baby shower for their first son, Zach proposed.

“We had just finished opening gifts when his mom told me to sit tight because they had one more gift for me,” Laura said. “I thought nothing of it because I was the soon-to-be mommy, but instead of a baby present, I got a diamond wedding ring. I was so overjoyed that I cannot tell you what he said, except those four little words ‘will you marry me?’”

“Since that time, we have grown deeper in love with one another. We raised our beautiful son, moved across the country, and began to create our own little family. The last thing we needed to do was vow our love to each other before God and our friends and family.”

We are in love with their diamond wedding band!

“The most important thing about this wedding to Zach and I was to make sure that each and every one of our guests felt welcomed, loved, and thanked,” Laura said. “We truly feel that we would not be at this wonderful point in our lives together if it were not for all the wonderful people in our lives, so this was our chance to thank them for everything they had ever done for us.”

“When all was said and done, Zach and I had such an amazing day,” Laura said. “It was a day filled with love, laughter, smiles, and warm hearts.”
